When you have a new child at home or a young family you want your home clean. The surfaces are washed down, disinfected and cleaned to remove any debris, dirt and potential germs that could harm your child. They also take time to close off and lock cupboards and stairways that also pose a potential hazard as well. When it comes to the carpet many people believe that carpet cleaning solutions are dangerous and full of chemicals. When carpet cleaning first began there was not a big push on ecofriendly cleaners and there was less known about the hazards of the chemicals that were used. This led to many parents reporting their child getting a rash after crawling on freshly cleaned carpet. They also had some children that would get an upset stomach as well. We all know that babies put everything in their mouth so after their toys are on the ground they could get sick. The difference now is that carpet cleaning companies have taken huge strides towards environmentally safe cleaning solutions as well as much better equipment. No longer is carpet cleaning the hazard to small children or babies but not having your carpets cleaned professionally is the real hazard. The cleaning solution that is used is safe around children and the equipment that is used to extract the water as well as the cleaner is strong enough to leave no residue.

It doesn’t matter how many times you may say “never eat on the carpet,” yet for some mysterious reason you’ll once again see a stain on your carpet. Of course, no one knows how it got there, right? As you take a closer look you may discover that ketchup had somehow fallen on your precious carpets. If you have encountered this vile condiment on your carpet you know it is not so easy to clean. Leading Carpet Cleaning is here to help you get that nasty stain out of your carpet by providing two methods that you can try to get that stubborn ketchup stain out.

How to Remove Ketchup Stains on Carpet with Liquid Dish Soap

When it comes to any stain remember that time is key. Never let a stain set too long before it gets cleaned. First step is to remove the ketchup without smearing it. If the ketchup has dried out you will need to scrape it off using a butter knife or something that isn’t too sharp. Then mix together one tablespoon of liquid dish soap in two cup of cold water. Use a sponge and blot at the stain with the soapy mixture. While using a dry paper towel or cloth that is white mind you, blot at the stain to absorb the liquid and the stain with it. Switch between the soapy water and dry cloth until the stain begins to fade. Once the stain is gone, vacuum the area and allow it to dry. In some cases this is all that is needed to remove ketchup stains from off of carpet and upholstery. However sometime the ketchup stain may be more stubborn and requires an alternate approach.

How to Remove Ketchup Stains on Carpet with Ammonia

As before, if the ketchup is dry scrape it off and vacuum the area to remove the excess ketchup. If it is still wet, remove as much as the ketchup as possible without smearing it. When removing the ketchup try not to spread or push the content deeper into the carpet or upholstery. Wet vacuums or even a spatula works well in this case. You can use a commercial grade carpet cleaner and spray the solution on top of the stain and allow it to soak for 20 minutes. After it has sat on the stain, vacuum it up again then blot at the stain with just warm water. If the stain is still there your next step is to mix together a cup of warm water with one quarter cup of ammonia and put it into a spray bottle. Shake it well to mix the two together and apply the diluted ammonia onto the stain. Using an old toothbrush scrub at the stain and blot it with a dry cloth as you clean up the stain. Once again rinse the area with warm water to remove the left over ammonia.

Tile floor is a popular type of flooring in many residential homes and other commercial buildings due to their durability and long-lasting qualities. However over time, the pores within the tile and most especially the grout will become compacted with dirt and oily grease. These will leave your floors looking dirty and weathered. Cleaning grout is one of those tasks no one wants to undertake, due to the tediousness of the task. No one wants to scrub the grout line and tile just to have an amazingly clean tile floor. However there are a few methods that can help make cleaning your tile floor easier; especially if you’re doing it by hand. Leading Carpet Cleaning will share some of these methods to help you with this tedious task.

Best Homemade Grout Cleaner #1 – Baking Soda

This method will use a homemade paste that helps to break up the dirt and greasy oils that are trapped in the grout. Start by mixing up a paste made of just water and baking soda. To create the mixture, use 3 parts of baking soda to 1 part water. This mixture creates the proper consistency for the paste. You can use your fingers to spread the paste over the grout. Gloves will help add comfort to your hands and are recommended. This next part makes you feel like a chemist. Dilute white vinegar in a spray bottle, spray the baking soda paste and then watch it bubble. After the bubbling has stopped, use a scrub brush to scrub the grout and even the tile. After you’re done scrubbing then mop up the floor with straight cold water. Note: Don’t use this method on natural stone tile. Vinegar is highly acidic and can eat at natural stone.

How to Clean Floor Tile Grout with Oxygenated Bleach

This method will use oxygenated bleach and water. You will want to mix 2 tablespoons of the oxygenated bleach with 2 cups of warm water. However, before you get too carried way with cleaning your grout, test a small area that may not be seen in the event the bleach discolors your grout. Some grout colors can be affected with bleach. Then pour the bleach solution over the grout. Afterward, make another bleach water mixture. With a brush about the width of the grout line, scrub the bleach into the grout line. Use your second bleach mixture to dip the brush to help rinse it off. Reapply the bleach as you go. After you have cleaned your grout line then use straight water to mop the rest of the tile floor.

How to Clean Grout on Tile Floors with Baking Soda, Hydrogen Peroxide & Liquid Dish Soap

Third Method – similar to the first method, this method will also use a baking soda based paste but this one can be used on any type of tile because this method doesn’t use vinegar. To make the paste take ¾ cup of baking soda, ¼ cup of hydrogen peroxide, and 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap. By using a scrub brush, apply the paste onto the grout and scrub the grout as you apply it. Allow the paste mixture to set on the grout for 15 minutes before rinsing the grout with warm water. You can just pour the warm water over the grout. Mop up the floor with plain water since the mixture will help clean the tile as you mop. If the floor seems bit soapy after you have mopped the entire floor, then re-mop the floor again still with water.
